I

I

MR. STAPLETON: Do any other members of the Board have any questions?

MR. BROWNELL: I thought it was a very interesting tour yesterday. I
really appreciate it. I wouldn't have gotten it otherwise.

MR. KREGGER: Thank you.

MR. SHERMAN: What is the planned power output from these power units?
You mentioned one of a hundred megawatts and another planned one of a
hundred megawatts. How large do you envision it could be?

MR. KREGGER: Two hundred megawatts is the planned total capacity. We
have already ordered the pump turbines and so forth for the second
hundred megawatt unit. But the lead time on those things is three and
a half years. So we are looking at about 1980 before we have those on
the site.

The structure itself is designed to accommodate the turbines and the
pumps just as soon as these things are delivered.

MR. STAPLETON: Are these Japanese?

MR. KREGGER: The pump is Westinghouse on the first unit and the turbine
is Allis-Chalmers. The requirement is that over fifty percent of the
component parts of either the turbine or the pump must be manufactured
in the United States. If the total would go to the Japanesej for
exam~le, then there is some sort of a penalty clause. I don t know if
that s the proper terminology or not. But they had to be a certain
percentage below any offer within the United States, like ten or
fifteen percent, something like that.

MR. STAPLETON: Any further questions from the Board? (No response)

How about members of the audience?

Would you please identify yourself by name, if you have one? (Laughter)

MR. ROLLY FISCHER: The name I am using today is Rolly Fischer and I am
from Glenwood Springs, Colorado with the Colorado River Water Conserva-
tion District. My inquiry is this: What would be the fluctuation
level on Twin Lakes?

MR. KREGGER: You mean on a daily basis because of the pump'back?

MR. FISCHER: I assume you're going to peak four hours a day; are you
not? Five days?

MR. KREGGER: The figure we usually use is six hours. That
tuate. It might be up to four, .five, six or eight or ten.
minimum pool, whe~e you will have the greatest fluctuation,
and generating cycle, that will be something less than four
that correct, Joe?

can fluc-
Now, at the
a pump back
feet.
