Dam safety requires the total draining of a dam for safety reasons, <br />maintenance or the health and welfare of the public and there i$ the distinct <br />possibility lhat a heavier than normal sediment release will occur from the <br />reservoir. I want to know if sediment is not an issue but the dam owner <br />indicates to you the re$eNOir is stocked by the DOW. You need to ask the <br />reservoir owner if DOW stocks the la~ I am concerned not only when the lake <br />. will be totally dtaineddowri but also if we are ordering the reservoir to be <br />drained in to the conservation pool and the'reservoir is stocked by COW. If <br />DOW provideS nieregularly with an updated list of the Iakes'and streams that <br />they stock I will forwanfthis information to both the water commissioners and the <br />dam safety engineers. <br /> <br />6. If you are not certain if a management activity will impact the fishery or its <br />ecosystem please notify me an4 I Will either discuss it with you and give you an <br />answer right a vrcrf. or , will contact the DOWend see if they have a (X)ncem. <br /> <br />In the event I am out of the office and an emel'Qencv should arise that requires <br />immediate attention I am authorizing my Assistant Division Engineers to contact <br />the DOW regional managei'. If they also are not available then I want the water <br />commissioners or Dam Safety Engineers to contact Kris Moser at (303)-291- <br />7316 or Jim Goodyear at (970~84-2836 ext. 306 to notify them or the <br />appropriate DOW agency enip10yee of the existing or emanate action that may <br />impact fishery or the stream ecosystem. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I will let you know if.l become aware of the need for any changes to the <br />procedures described in this memo or additional situations that I need to be <br />notified of.
