The MOU is concernecJ about water <br />management activities that will result in umeceSsary negative impacts to <br />fisheries and the aquatic ecosystem. I will attempt to Clarify what I understand is <br />meant by this MOU and when. you should bring actions to my attention that you <br />feel may have an affect on the fisheries and ecosystems. These actions may <br />either be the result of water. management activities that we initiate or those <br />activities that you become aware of through your day to day activities or contacts <br />with water users and/or owners. <br /> <br />Normal year to year and day to day activities of water users and our office are <br />not nec'?s~arily the issl,Je of this MOU. However, changes in stream or reselVoir <br />operations that are not nannal are of concem and if this situation occurs I am <br />responsible for initiating the MOU in that event I theret'oI'e want to be notified <br />verballv of any of the following activities. as soOn as you become aware of <br />them: ' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1. A proposed activity that will completely dry up of a river or:its tributary that <br />supports a cold water fishery. I want to be notified if the drying up of the stream <br />does not occur on a regular basis every year. This activity may be the result of <br />either a reselVoir operation, exchange or headgate operation. <br /> <br />2. A reservoir is to be draWn down into its conseMrtion pool," its sediment pool <br />or it will be totally drained. I don't want to be notified if the reservoir is drained to <br />a similar Iavel every year as part of its nannal operation.
