Present were Harrison, Smith, Martineau, Lochhead, Sheftel, Meyring, <br />Olson, Simpson. and Duncan. Peter Evans, DNR, represented Ken Salazar. Absent <br />were Jackson. Eisel, Wright, and Norton. Norton arrived at 11:00 am. and Olson left <br />about 11:10 am. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Temporal)' Storage for Parks in Chatfield Reservoir* (10:47 - 10:57 am.) <br /> <br />Randy Seaholm, CWCB staff, presented a staff memorandum and letter request from <br />the Colorado Division of Parks seeking a Board recommendation to the U.S. Army <br />Corps of Engineers that permits the Division of Parks to operate a temporary <br />substitute supply plan between Chatfield and Cherry Creek Reservoirs to assist in <br />offsetting evaporative losses at'Cherry Creek Reservoir. Mel Langdon, Parks staff, <br />spoke in favor of the request Questions were asked by Sheftel and Duncan. The <br />Board was asked to approve a staff recommendation to the Corps which allows Parks <br />to store approximately 700 acre feet in Chatfield Reservoir for release when Cherry <br />Creek is under a call from the South Platte below the Cherry Creek confluence. <br />Discussion followed by Simpson and Lochhead. A motion was made by Lochhead and <br />seconded by Sheftel to approve the staff recommendation. The motion passed by <br />unanimous (7-0) decision. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Colorado River Matters (10:57 - 11:45 am.) <br /> <br />a. Negotiations among Seven Basin States <br /> <br />Jim Lochhead provided an update on discussions among the Seven Basin States' <br />representatives at a meeting held April 7-10, 1992, concerning Colorado River <br />issues. <br /> <br />b. Colorado River Operation Planning Studies <br /> <br />Jim Lochhead presented the results of a series of technical studies being conducted <br />by the Bureau of Reclamation entitled .Colorado River Operation and Planning <br />Studies (CROPS) to evaluate surplus conditions on the Colorado River. <br /> <br />May 1992 Meeting, page 3 <br />
