In compliance with the memorandum
recommendation, a notification letter has been prepared/mailed for
twenty five (25) studies/reports (Priority 1). A schedule has also been
prepared for the remaining one hundred and three (103)
studies/reports (Priorities 2-6).

The First 1992 Flood Emergency . This emergency is the result of a
high snowpack - 175 percent and the possibility that a stream diversion
pattern into Sanchez Reservoir that has gone on for 81 years may illll.
continue for the 1992 spring runoff season. From 1910 to 1991 the
Sanchez Reservoir Diversion Canal has diverted high flows from
Culbera Creek, Vallejos Creek, and San Francisco Creek into the
reservoir. These diversions have provided flood control to downstream
property owners. Because these stream reaches have not experienced
high flows for 81 years, they have become vegetated and silted. Much
filling of the channel and overbank has occurred. Consequently, the
channels and adjacent floodplains have Ym. limited capacity for the
conveyance of 1992 runoff water. These conditions have created a
flood alert, Due to a storage restriction by the State Engineer's Office,
the canal systems may not be available for the annual diversion of
floodwaters. A photo slide presentation is planned.

Grand Junction. Oral presentation only. Should the CWCB select
Grand Junction for the September 1992 Board meeting, there would
be an opportunity to tour the Colorado River Redevelopment Project
by the City of Grand Junction and Mesa County, Colorado. The
project includes a number of natural resources elements. In addition,
the first Corps of Engineers project on the West Slope is proposed as
a component of the overall project.

Directors Reports

CWR&PDA

State Engineer

Director, ewCR

(1) Team Building. seminar participation
(2) Displays - information by sections

6
