GOODWIN:

"Dave, I might ask you about this Fruitland
Mesa project first. There are quite a few
people that think maybe you have practically
abandoned that project. What's the status of
that project?"

MR. CRANDALL:

"The definite plan report is in its final
stages of review. ~tt. Carlson, who is the con-
struction engineer on our silt project here,
has moved over and is doing some of the pre con-
struction wo~c on Fruitland Mesa. We must all
bear in mind that these are very tight budgetary
times but as far as the intent and having the
work identified and preconstruction planning
activities are concerned, they are moving along.
There is no reason to be pessimistic at all.
So I would say, considering all the circum-
stances, we are moving along very well on
Frui tland X1esa."

MR. GOODWIN:

"Do you have any date in mind when the
definite plan report might be ready?"

MR. CRANDALL:

"Nell, the action before the Congress
would be a request for construction appropria-
tions . "

MR. GOODWIN:

"Are you ready for that?"

NR. CRANDALL:

"Oh, I would say that \'/e are substantially
ready for that., yes."

MR. GOODWIN:

"Thank you.

Now another thing, Dave. I kind of wonder
if you are dragging your feet on this Upper
Gunnison deal. I see your feasibility report
has been put clear back to '71."

r1R. CRANDALL:

"I am ably supported and assisted here by
the project Manager at Grand Junction under
whose direction that phase of the study falls,
so with your permission, Xtr. Chairman, maybe Bob
