-JUVV

The 230,000-volt steel tower transmission
line from Salida to 11idl,/ay, Colorado, is also
on schedule. This calls for completion early
in 1968.

The Midway substation and the Rifle Sub-
station will be finished about the same time
later in 1968 and will provide two additional
ties with Public Service company of Colorado
to strengthen our transmission system and our
ability to market the increasing capability of
the storage Project.

Design is proceeding on the series capaci-
tor stations to be constructed on the two
345,000-volt high capacity lines that are
going south from Glen Canyon in cooperation
wi th the Arizona Public Service Company. l'Te
have a cooperative agreement which includes
financial participation by the company in lieu
of separate construction by the company of
similar facilities on its own lines.

As of the 3lst of August, the Bureau had
79 contracts for storage project power sales.
These contracts provide for a total delivery
of 601 megawatts this summer, increasing to a
total delivery of about 956 megawatts in the
summer of 1970. The winter delivery for the
corresponding period is expected to be less and
would be about 399 megawatts and 713 megawatts,
respectively. These contracts generally are
based on the customer's estimated requirements
in 1970-71. NOI'/ l'le have notified all prefer-
ence customers that we would be willing to
enter into additional contracts to supply their
needs up to the 1975-76 period. So those con-
tracts will be offered to the extent that they
need an increase in their scheduled rates of
delivery.

Several contracts with preference custom-
ers remaining in the active negotiation stage
represent an increase of 40-50 megawatts for
the summer of 1970 and about 35 megawatts for

1

1
