1

1

HR. CRANDALL:

"Hr. Chairman, members of the Board, ladies
and gentlemen, today I wish to cover with you
Region 4's activities in the fields of construc-
tion, power operation, runoff and storage, and
our planning program, plus a few other inci-
dental items of mutual interest. with your
permission, I'll highlight the report which I
filed with the Board.

On the 14th of september, Morro~1 Point Dam
\'Iill be topped out. The final bucket of con-
crete will be placed in the mass of the dam.
Since the crest is only 12 feet in width, it
will not be possible to have an appropriate
ceremony. However, we do intend to commemorate
this rather significant occasion. We expect to
award a powerplant completion contract for
Morrow Point late this autumn and have the power-
plant in operation in 1969.

At Blue Mesa Dam the first unit is now
producing power on a trial basis and we expect
to have the second unit ready for testing the
latter part of this month and the plant com-
mercial not long after that.

On Navajo Dam, we have received a low bid
of a little over $600,000 for repairs to the
stilling basin in connection with the outlet
~Iorks and this work is scheduled for completion
early in 1968.

~1e modification which has been trouble-
some to the water users of the smith Fork
diversion ~Iorks "Iill be completed as a hoist
is delivered and hopefully that \von' t be too
far a\.lay.

At Silver Jack Dam on the Bostwick Park
project, the contractor is making good progress
on the outlet works. He "!ill finish that this
next spring but in the meantime he has otarted
placement of the embankment of the dam. I
can report to you that it is coming along on
schedule.
