Bids were opened on June l6 on the clear-
ing of Turquoise Lill,e. Herman H. West and
Company, r-1urphy, North Carolina, submitted the
low bid of $l44,000 and was awarded the contract
on July 12. He has been doing quite a job on
that. Clearing operations wer~ begun late in
July and the contractor has completed 55.l per-
cent of contract with ll.7 percent of the con-
tract time gone.

On the 13th of July bids were opened for
constructing subgrade and structures for the
Denver and Rio Grande Railroad relocation at
Pueblo Reservoir. H. E. Lowdermilk Company,
Englewood, Colorado, was low bidder at $2,956,lOO
and was awarded the contract on August 4. On
August 26, the groundbrealdng ceremonies spon-
sored by the Southeastern Colorado Water Con-
servancy District were held at the Pueblo dam
site and I might add I thought it was an astound-
ing success. They had quite a crowd there, the
weather was fine, and the blast went off.

In the Upper Colorado River Storage proj-
ect, on July 3l, 1967, the contractor for con-
struction of the poncha-Hidway section of the
Curecanti-Uid,.,ay 230-kv. transmission line had
completed 92.9 percent of the contract with
61.0 percent <)f the contract time elapsed.
Tower erection is nearing completion with only
46 towers remaining to be erected. Stringing
operations, which began on May 3l at the Uid-
way end of the line, have continued westward
30 miles.

Several equipment supply contracts have
been awarded for the Hidway Substation and a
letting is scheduled for September 26, 1967,
for the prime contract for the substation.
