.

.

.

ATTACHMENT 4

FPR 99-506
Floodplain Information Report, Cache La Poudre River, Weld County,
Colorado, dated April 1996.

KEY ISSUES:
. An engineering consulting firm on behalf of a private development company prepared the Floodplain
Information Report (FIR), This report only provides floodplain information for a specific reach of the
river, and was not intended to be a comprehensive study through Weld County,

. The results of this study will be superseded in the near future by a more comprehensive government
study,

COMMUNITY RESPONSE:
The designation and approval for this study is being taken under Rule 9.D.2, "Board
Initiative", and therefore the affected jurisdictions were not required to transmit a request
letter for the proposed designation action. CWCB staff sent notification letters to Weld
County and to the Engineering firm that completed the study. The purpose of the
notification'letter was to inform those parties of the proposed designation action, and to
solicit any comments or relevant information that may be of interest to the CWCB. No
written responses were received by the deadline, and therefore the staff recommends
proceeding with the designation and approval action.

SUMMARY:
The staff recommends Board approval of the floodplain resolution for the Cache La Poudre River
designating the Floodplain Information Report dated April 1996, The detailed floodplain
information contained in the report and on the maps meets the Board's "Floodplain Designation
and Approval Rules", The designation action will assure that this floodplain information for
Severance is explicitly approved by the state, thereby complying with state statutory requirements,

6
