I might say that from the previous experience with respect to what is called the Narrows, there is much distaste in our area with re~ spect to the Narrows.' But since that time there have been many studies made, and without enumerating,them, by our board and by our engineers in our area, and we are inclined to the conviction that there will be much less expense cllid niany, many advantages gained, including the possibility of a complete reuse - one additional complete reuie - of water were a main stem storage possible at the Weld County or Hardin site, and also con- sidering the possibility of two large' reser- voirs transferring their point of storage. We so firmly believe this that we think that the studies that would be undertaken as pro- posed here by the Director, would confirm these many findings that we have. But we are inclined to think that we cannot convince anyone by ourselves, so it would be our ~osi- tion that it is almost mandatory for a complete study of this South Platte and that the 'study that is proposed be financed and unaertaken as rapidly as possible. particularly with respect to this Hardin site. I I might.also comment, that we, in view- ing the entire' picture i .' believe that. our posi- tion is in entire harmony with the ups~ream users incl~ding the City and County of Denver. It is not hard to conceive the mutual advan- tages if, with what water we have in this area below the Hardin site, we can obtain a very much more efficient use, and'that that will relieve the pressure of the requirements that must be continued to be delivered downstream. So, I think on behalf of our board, at least sp~aking personally since I am not the presi- dent.of the board, I couldn't forcib1y enough urge ~hat.this Board urge the Legislature to appr~priate the funds to make the studies. particularly with respect to the Hardin site."
