I

I

MR.. STAPLETON:

MR. MILLER:

MR.. STAlU:'E'l'ON:

MR. HM'FKIii:

underground storage, which offers an attrac-
tive field in certain localities. Everything
should be based upon the geographical situa-
tions and geology, etc., of the areas that
are affected.

I believe the study of the river can be
done. I think from the suggestions that have
been made here and, of course from personal
interest, (and I think I speak for other
people in that area), it is almost imperative
to gain these ends, that the so-called Weld
County Reservoir site,or the Hardin Reservoir
site as it was originally named, be utilized.
This study has a great many other advantages
in regard to dislocation of people and cost
of construction, values of lands being taken
and a great many others. Also the Two Forks
Reservoir site has the advantage in that when
we have extreme and large river flows down
the South Platte River, very nearly in all
instances we find that close to between 40%
and 50% of that water that is excess goes out
of the state, does arise above and does flow
throug-h the Ci ty of Denver. An examination
of the geological survey records, the hydro-
graphic records, will show that. So that
indicates that there is a very definite place
for a reservoir in that area.

I believe that is all I have to offer
and thanks for your time."

"Thank you."

"Mr. Chairman, there are a few other peo-
ple I'd like to introduce here. Mr. Earl
Haffke who practices law in Ft. Morgan and
is a member of the Riverside Irrigation Dis-
trict Board."

"Nice to have you with us, Earl. Do you
have a statement you'd like to make?"

"If I comprehend the proposition as pre-
sented by Judge Sparks, there is need for
particular studies at the site referred to on
