<br />\ <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />R <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />GREAT OUTDOORS <br />COLORADO <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Local Government Stakeholders and Interested Parties <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Wally Piccone, Senior Program Manager, Local Government <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />January 3, 2006 <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Request for Public Comment on Whitewater Park Projects Draft Grant <br />Conditions <br /> <br />Written comments on the following draft whitewater park grant conditions are due (not <br />postmarked) by January 30, 2006 and can be submitted via: <br /> <br />E-mail at wpiccone({Vl!oco.orl! <br />Fax at 303-863-7517 <br />Mail at: Great Outdoors Colorado, ATTN: Whitewater Park Comments, 1600 Broadway, . <br />Suite 1650, Denver, CO 80202 <br /> <br />The Local Government Committee of the Great Outdoors Colorado Board will consider <br />comments on February 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in Suite 590 at 1600 Broadway in Denver. <br />The Committee will forward a recommendation to the full GOCO Board to be considered <br />in March. <br /> <br />Whitewater park projects, a popular form of outdoor recreation in this state, are eligible for <br />funding within Great Outdoors Colorado's (GOCO) Local Government purpose. The GOCO <br />Constitutional Amendment states that GOCO cannot impact water laws, but does not provide any <br />other guidance on an appropriate role for GOCO in this popular outdoor recreation activity. <br /> <br />There has been an increase in the number of applications received by GOCO for whitewater park <br />projects and it is apparent there will be more submitted in future grant cycles. <br /> <br />The GOCO Local Governmcnt Committee has held two stakeholder meetings to receive public <br />input on whitewater park projects, which have helped in drafting general conditions that may be <br />required for these types of projects to assure that they are consistent with existing standards for <br />GOCO Local Park and Outdoor Recreation projects. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I <br />
