GENERAL INVESTIGATIONS <br />FEASIBILITY STUDIES <br />Chatfield, Cherry Creek, and Bear Creek Reservoirs - $200,000 -- $260,000 - Sep 05 <br />D Feasibility initiated in Nov 99. <br />D Study area originally included Cherry Creek, Bear Creek, and Chatfield Lakes. <br />The current study includes only Chatfield Lake and the South Platte and Platte Rivers <br />downstream of Chatfield. <br />D The study is examining the potential to reallocate storage from flood control to water supply <br />storage at Chatfield. <br />D Colorado Water Conservation Board, project sponsor, is conducting a water demand <br />analysis to identify operation impacts of potential storage reallocations. <br />D Corps fired a small-business contractor for lack of performance on HEC-5 model. <br />D FY 03 activities include using Corps personnel to develop the hydrologic and hydraulic <br />models needed to identify impacts of proposed alternatives; and initiate discussions with <br />USFWS regarding Section 7 consultation requirements. <br />D The study will address recreation concerns voiced by CO Parks Dept. <br />D Estimated feasibility study cost is $2.9 million. <br /> <br />U.S. <br />Representative <br /> <br />Tancredo, <br />Beauprez, DeGette <br /> <br />Fountain Creek Watershed Study, Colorado Springs - $330,000 -- $350,000 - Jun 2009 Hefley <br />D Feasibility Cost Sharing Agreement was signed 19 Mar 2003. <br />D Flood of 1999 caused ca. $100 million in damages to infrastructure and residential property. <br />D Watershed study will comprehensively analyze problems contributing to flooding problem. <br />D City of Colorado Springs expects study to identify spin-offprojects. <br /> <br />RECONNAISSANCE STUDIES <br />Cache La Poudre River Basin, Greeley - $100,000 -" $200,000 - Mar 04 Musgrave <br />D FY 03 Congressional Add to initiate reconnaissance study. NWO desires to know the <br />status of the study resolution (Wendy Fink, Bob Schaffer's office) drafted by the CWCB and <br />sponsor. Two were drafted: one that focused on the Greeley area and one that <br />focused on the Cache La Poudre river basin. NWO would like to include and reference <br />the resolution in the reconnaissance 905b analysis prior to initiating the feasibility phase. <br />D In December 2001, a Planning Assistance to States Letter Agreement for $79,900 was <br />signed between the City of Greeley and the Corps to develop a Land Use Assessment. In <br />May 2002, the Land Use Assessment was submitted to the City. The land use assessment <br />will serve as the first phase of the feasibility study to be undertaken at the conclusion of the <br />reconnaissance study. <br />D Study area includes flood plain from the confluence of the South Platte River, upstream <br />about 17 miles, and includes City of Greeley <br />D Study will address flood damage reduction and riparian habitat restoration. Sponsor is <br />anxious to begin. <br />
