<br />776 <br /> <br />APPENDIX Aiii (a) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />---------- <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation has recognized the <br />need for additional irrigation water in Southwestern Colorado <br />and Northwestern New Mexico, and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation has made extensive <br />surveys and has found it feasible to construct a series of dams <br />and canals, known as the Animas-La Plata Project of the Upper <br />Colorado River Storage Project, which would bring water to the <br />land in the above mentioned area which already has limited amount <br />of irrigation water and which would also bring water to a con- <br />siderable acreage of irrigable land, both' privately owned and <br />Indian owned, which land has never had irrigation water, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the present and future development of the above <br />mentioned area is dependent upon the completion of the Animas- <br />La Plata Project, and <br /> <br />, <br />WHEREAS numerous public meetings have been held in the <br />area and the people in the area have voiced their approval and <br />support of the Animas-La Plata Project, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by Allison Grange No. 308, <br />La Plata County, Colorado, in regular meeting J~ne 5, 1957, that <br />this organization go on record as favoring and supporting the <br />Animas-La Plata Project, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by Allison Grange No. 308, in <br />regular meeting, that we hereby respectfully ask the Honorable <br />Stephen L. R. McNichols, the Honorable Gordon Allott, the Honor- <br />able John A. Carroll, and the Honorable Wayne E. Aspinall to give <br />their loyal support for funds to be allotted to th~ Bureau of <br />Reclamation to speed up the Authorization Report on the Animas- <br />La Plata Project and to further the completion of this project, <br />and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be <br />sent to the Honorable Stephen L. R.
