773

I

The recreational possibilities of the reservoir are
tremendous. Located as it would be the lake could be made
to offer varied fishing opportunities, it would provide
additional nesting ground for ducks,.geese, and would be
found attractive for boating. Located as it would be near
a populous area those recreational facilities would find
many users.

The many good purposes which the Juniper Project would
serve certainly justify a higher priority than this important
project has thus far received.

-- Reprinted from
The Craig Empire-Courier
C. A. Stoddard, Editor

Support.

The Craig Chamber of Commerce wholeheartedly endorses
the Juniper Dam Project and will cooperate in every way possible
toward its construction.

It is well located--will not flood any roads, highways,
or too much valuable land.

For the amount of water impounded the cost is low.

So far as known all interests and persons favor its
construction.

It is high up on the watershed where it can hold back
silt-will irrigate valuable farm lands in Colorado and the
Unitah Basin--will afford a grand recreational area both for
hunting, fishing, and boating easily accessible to the local
residents and the many travelers over U. S. Highway 40--it will
store water for possible needs in supplying demands under the
Colorado River Compacts--and will be a tremendous factor in the
growth of all Northwestern Colorado. It is one public project
that should be developed as rapidly as possible.

Fred A. Videon,
Pres. Chamber of Commerce

I

Resoltuion.

WHEREAS, The Bureau of Reclamation has given consideration
to the construction of a dam at Juniper Mountain for irrigation
purposes,

AND WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Moffat
County, Colorado feel that the construction of the Juniper dam
would be a great asset to this county and would result in a
great economic asset to the State of Colorado.

- 3 -
