<br />. . <br /> <br />Director's Report Attachment - May 22-23, 2000, Board Meeting <br />Water Supply Planning and Finance Section - Design and Construction Status Report e <br /> <br />The CWCB Water Supply Planning and Finance Section has completed 6 projects in FY <br />99-00. Currently we have 13 projects under construction and II projects in the design phase. <br /> <br />The attached spreadsheet summarizes project status including budget, construction <br />schedule, and progress to date. During this current reporting period 2 projects were completed. <br /> <br />The attached progress report briefly outlines all active project design and construction <br />information and progress to date. <br /> <br />Projects Under Construction <br /> <br />Leroux Creek Water Users Association - Carl Smith Dam Rehabilitation <br />Authorization: Emergency Infrastructure Account County: Delta - N of Hotchkiss <br />Water Source: Leroux Creek Project Yield: 750 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $1,450,000 @ 3.75% for 30 years Project Type: Dam Rehabilitation <br /> <br />This $1,600,000 project is the reconstruction ofthe Carl Smith Dam, located 15 miles <br />north of Hotchkiss in Delta County, which failed unexpectedly in May 1998. The Leroux Creek <br />Water Users Association contracted Smitl1 Geotechnical Engineering Consultants of Forth <br />Collins to analyze design alternatives and complete construction plans and specifications. The <br />selected alternative involves the reconstruction of the dam failure area, widening the crest width .a <br />from 12-ft. to 16-ft., additional embankment along the downstream face of the dam, rip rap _ <br />protection along the upstream face of the dam, reconstruction of tI1e spillway to pass the Probable <br />Maximum Flood, a toe drain and drainage blanket, and the construction of a new outlet system. <br />Construction commenced by Zak Dirt of Longmont in September of 1999 and is currently 95% <br />complete. The remaining punch list items are on-hold over the course of the winter and will be <br />completed, weather permitting, in June 2000 <br /> <br />Excelsior Irrigating Companv - Excelsior Ditch Rehabilitation <br />Authorization: SB 97-008 County: Pueblo - E of Pueblo <br />Water Source: Arkansas River Project Yield: 4,250 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $251,125 @ 3.75% for 30 yrs Project Type: Ditch Rehabilitation <br /> <br />This $335,000 project is the re-construction of approximately 2 miles of open ditch, <br />which has previously been abandoned and farmed over. Also included in the project is the <br />construction of several pump stations for water delivery. The project is located in Pueblo County <br />10 miles east of Pueblo. Project design was prepared by the Pueblo Office of the Natural <br />Resource Conservation Service, Ralph Adkins, P.E. of Pueblo, Irrigation Engineering of <br />Alamosa and Hendrooke Sprinklers ofFt. Collins. Project construction commenced by the <br />owner and several sub-contractors in May 1998 and was originally scheduled for completion in <br />the fall of 1999. Flooding damaged tI1e project area during the summer of 1999 that has delayed <br />the project's completion schedule until August of2000. <br /> <br />. <br />
