COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD
823 State Centennial Building
l3l3 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

September 9, 1980

HYANNIS RESERVOIR PROJECT

The Arapahoe and Meyring Livestock Companies applied to the Board staff

for a state water project in March, 1980.

The proposed Hyannis Reservoir is an irrigation water storage project that

would be benefitting mainly David Meyring and his immediate family. The proposed

. project is an onstream reservoir about 75 feet high and is located near the headwaters

of the East Forks of Arapahoe Creek, a tributary to Grizzly Creek in the North Platte

River Basin. It is expected that the Hyannis Reservoir would provide supplemental

irrigation water for the existing irrigated acreage in the area and water for additional

irrigation.

Although staff has no detailed information about the proposed damsite except

what has been submitted in the application form, the project is roughly estimated

to cost about $2,500,000.

Before any final decision on the project is taken, a feasibility study costing

about $20,000-$25,000 would have to be jointly undertaken by the Board and the reservoir

sponsors.

The guidance of the Board is sought for such a decision, since the main benefi-

ciaries of the project will be David Meyrings' immediate family.

JWM :pm
