COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD
823 State Centennial Building
l313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

September 9, 1980

GALLAGHER PROJECT

(individual domestic well and storage tank)

The Gallagher's applied for a state water project in February, 1980.

Before the application was submitted to the staff, Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher

had two wells drilled on their property in their attempt to find enough water

to satisfy their domestic needs. However, these wells did not produce enough

water for the household needs of the family.

In their attempt to solve their problem, the Gallagher's applied to the

state for financial help. At the same time, they have employed the services of

R.H. Frantz, a consulting geologist. Pressed by their immediate need for water,

the family went ahead and using the advice of their consultant, drilled a new

well and also installed a storage tank. The storage tank, with a capacity of

l600 gallons, appears to have adequate capacity for the family and when combined

with the output of the well provides the supply of water necessary for the family

needs.

The total cost of drilling a new well and erecting a storage tank of l600

gallon capacity was $l3,500, and the Gallagher's built the project with moneys

borrowed on a short term loan. Now they are asking that the Board approve the

project already built and that request be made to the legislature for funding.

When the project was constructed, the staff reviewed no drawings or speci-

fications and have not visited the site.

The staff offers no recommendations for the project, but requests the Board's

guidance about it.

FED:pm
