We brought a viewgraph projector but I
am sure that all of the members of the Board
have, as part of the report, the revelant
charts and I think that most of the members
of the audience also have them so therefore
we will not interrupt or disrupt the meeting
to set up the viewgraph projector at this
time. If, however, during the lunch hour
any of the members of the audience would be
interested in looking at these we will be
pleased to set them up at that time.

I'd like to cover five items. First
of all, Trinidad. Secondly, our preconstruc-
tion planning on Las Animas. Thirdly, the
progress of our report on the plan of im-
provement on the Arkansas above John Martin
Dam. Fourth, the study of the Arkansas
between John Martin Dam and Great Bend,
Kansas. Fifth, flood plain management.

First of all, it is a source of great
gratification to us, and I am sure to all
of you here, that the long-delayed Trinidad
Project is about to get under way. We
advertised for bids on the 9th of February
and the bids will be opened on the 3rd of
April in Trinidad. We class this project
for the outlet works in the $1 to $5 million
range. The c~nstruction period ~ill be 670
days. There has been a considerable degree
of interest shown on the part of both general
contractors and suppliers of equipment and
materials. Our other early actions which
are in progress include the design of relo-
cations. We have acquired all the lands
required for the outlet works and we are now
making appraisals of real estate for the
remainder of the project lands. The Presi-
dent's budget for fiscal year 1969 includes
$1.7 million for the continuation of con-
struction.
