.

.

.

35

1 Reservoir, maybe to 55 or 60 thousand acre-feet, at the Wolf

2 Creek site. without the ability to market water from that

3 reservoir, we find ourselves in a posture where the local

4 Rangely residents, being tired of taking showers in sand and

5 having the White River rise up and flood, want to build a

& 14,000 acre-foot reservoir and are willing to fund all or most

7 of it from general obligation bonds.
8 The river district board has passed a motion to con-

9 struct the smaller Taylor Draw site, and this is the reason

10 that I came today was to ask this board to support that positicr.

11 The staff and I have discussed it, and Mr. Sherman and John

12 Fetcher and I have discussed it from the standpoint of the

13 entire white River and its relationship to the Yampa River

14 drainage and the State of Colorado to the State of Utah on

15 the white River from the standpoint of Colorado being able to

1& use its compact allocated. We are at a point where the people

17 want to build it, and they want to pay for it.

18 MR. STAPLETON: Do we have a resolution?

19 MR. McDONALD: This is the proposed resolution. It

20
21
22
23
24
25

wasn't mailed until the 24th. I'm not sure everybody got it.

If this item might be deferred until the March meeting--

MR. FISCHER: I think that's at the discretion of

the Board.

MR. STAPLETON: That's my opinion. Either your or

my filing wasn't very good, but I don't seem to have it.
