The number of parcels of various sizes (< 1 acre, > 1 acre to 10 acres, >10 acres to 35
acres, and> 35 acres) were counted by land use type to assist in estimating future water use.
Future water use was estimated by assuming parcels greater than 35 acres will be subdivided
into 35 acre parcels. .

Current irrigated lands and consumptive use estimates were taken form Colorado Decision
Support System GIS coverages and Statemod model results. And are summarized in Table 2.
Decreed and undecreed water use was also considered in this analysis by incorporating
estimated existing water uses in the North Fork of the Gunnison River basin that are in need
of augmentation water (Table 2). The estimated existing water uses provided by the Division
Engineer's Office do not include irrigation rights, only springs and ponds used for domestic,
stock and evaporation uses.

Table 2 - North Fork subbasins irrigated lands consumptive use (CU) summary

.

Area
acres
65,490
62,243
154,263
15,499
21,044
9,645
2,372
330,556

535
42
4,696
1,632
69
33
22
7,029

Projected Consumptive Use water demands
A spreadsheet model was developed with the GIS data to calculate the projected CU water
demand under various assumptions. On December 14, 2005, a conference call was held with
CDM and CWCB staff plus Wayne Schieldt, Assistant Division 4 Engineer, Dave Kanzer,
Colorado River Water Conservation District and Mike Pelletier, Gunnison County Planner.
Preliminary model results were reviewed and changes in model assumptions proposed for
the ultimate build out demands of the subbasins. The following summarizes the revised

.

S:\SWSI 2\NorthJor1<\finaLmemoldeliverableOl1606\CWCB N For1< 1-17-06,doc
