SPARKS:

in that area. The legislative committees have
been working. Do you envision that you will
have to call a special meeting of this Board
between now and March 10th to get any policy
making decisions?"

"I think not. The legislation that is
being proposed is more in the purview of the
state engineer's office. All that we can do
is to be of assistance to the legislature when
the members ask us to analyze a particular
bill. I don't think we should advocate or
oppose any of the pending legislation in con-
nection with amendments to Senate Bill 8l or
other matters. We have had our say in that
matter. As a matter of fact, some of the things
that we argued were wrong with Senate Bill 81
are now the subject of amendments.

The best we can do and the only thing we
should do is to stand ready to assist the
legislature in the way of advice, if it re-
quests it."

"For some of the newer members of the Board,
Mr. sparks will be keeping us up to date with
legislation as it affects water so we will be
current on it. That is why we are going to
have our meeting on March lOth at which time
I would expect interested members of the
legislature would be here. So unless some-
thing unforeseen happens we will cover it in
that way."

"One question, Larry. Is there any possi-
bility or is there any talk of an extension
on our July lst well signup?"

"Yes, I think that definitely the date
will be extended, one to two years."

"Is there a bill or will there be something
written on it?"

"There is a bill."
