and state agencies will consume most of 1971,
with construction anticipated in 1972.

The overall plan for the area as shown on
a map I have here would be one sewage treatment
plant at the south end of Lake Granby to take
care of all the sewage from Grand Lake, Shadow
Mountain and the shores of Lake Granby and
after treatment to discharge it into the Colo-
rado River. I believe the approximate estimate
is about $6 million for this. considering the
difficulty they had for the small district up
at the north end, it isn't economically feasible
to go ahead and do this large district at this
time. In the interim, we will continue to
sample the lake at about 10 different locations
and continue to get the people to repair any
systems that they have and encourage more to
join the sanitation district. We would all
like to see the proposed district go ahead and
get under construction now. The engineers can
make it as far as plans and specifications but
it is the money that is holding everything back
right now. We will continue to keep these
three lakes under surveillance, checking po~
tential sources of pollution. If the district
had not been organized, the marinas and every-
one along the shores would have had to put in
their own separate mechanical plants which are
owner maintained. With the change of owner-
ships and so forth that go on up there, these
plants would soon be as bad as the failed
septic systems.

The area is becoming more and more an
active winter resort through snowmobiling, and
so forth. We are not going to stop with just
the one plant that is proposed but we are going
to continue to see if the district can be en-
larged in different phases and eventually come
up with this long-range plan.

That's about all of my presentation."

MR. SPARKS:

"We'll hear from two other people at least

I

I
