of water to meet the daily peaks for immediate
priority demands or whatever will have to be
increased. Distribution mains that deliver
the water to your lots or place of business
will have to be extended and from the stand-
point of maintaining a dependable first-class
system this requires 24-hour service each day. 'I'~
And it is this type of service that I am particu-
larly proud of that is being accomplished by
the Denver Water Department because they are
on the job notwithstanding bad weather 'and
occasional breaks when they have some real
troubles, they do a very fine job. We have a
real fine dedicated bunch of employees render-
ing this service.

I'd like to liken what they are doing and
I've talked to the employees in terms like
this. I'll say, 'Gentlemen, you are not in
the business where you can go into a grocery
store and ask for a commodity and the grocery-
man or the department store manager says "I'm
sorry, I'm out of that today but I will order
it for you and will have it in in a couple of
days". Neither are you in the business where
you can dial your telephone and get a busy
signal dnd come back and say I'll try it again
in ten minutes. There are not very many of
us that would go to the tap and turn it on and
find a dry tap and say I'll corne back in ten
minutes or I'll put in an order for more water,
or something like that. This is the kind of
thing we are up against and this is what we
are emphasizing.'

I think it is real important that we must
work together, Denver being one of the major,
the major community I'll say, that's developing
water for municipal purposes and with a great
deal of enthusiasm I look forward to working
with the Colorado Water Conservation Board I
and other water developers in Colorado in
making maximum utilization of Colorado's valu- -
able water resource.

Thank you. I'll be happy to answer any
