I

the Williams Fork Reservoir with a capacity of
97,000 acre-feet on the Williams Fork River
on the west slope. This is a vital feature
of the Denver system because it provides re-
placement ability such that releases from this
reservoir can be made at such times as diver-
sions are being made in order to avoid adverse
effects on prior water rights downstream on
the west slope. Incidentally, there is a power-
plant at Williams For~, small by Bureau of
Reclamation standards, Mr. Ingles, or Mr.
Crandall (I believe I saw Dave here) but
nevertheless a real important little plant
for Denver because it affords us an opportunity
to generate some power and to return to the
Bureau of Reclamation power that is interfered
~ith at Green Mountain and in case we have too
much we sell it all to the Public Service
Company.

I

As I noted, we have a little reserve in
our present system to meet future projected
needs. At the present time our projec:tionll
~ould indicate that we could meet our require-
ments up into the mid 80's. But we cannot
delay until the mid 80's before we start
planning abOut OCher projects, As already
outlined, since it takes ten, fifteen or
twenty years, maybe more, the Blue system
took forty or fifty years, it's none too early
to start thinking about future plans. Now
let's look on this same chart which charts the
additional work that we are looking for future
development of water for this community. First
and foremost an important aspect is to fully
develop the existing system to produce maximum
water within the framework of water rights under
which we are now diverting and this we will do.
This requires careful evaluation of all changea,
our changes in our own system or changes that
might be proposed by other water right owners.

As we proceed we develop or think about
our future development of additional sources.
one of the most siqnUicant ~-ements that we
