0:;1.l.0

On January 15, 1969, at a regular session
of this Board, considerable discussion was had
concerning the Yellow Jacket Project. In
particular, the problem that is presented in
the project report, the only problem that
appears to be presented at this time, was the
recommendation contained in the report which
states that in order to minimize losses to '
big game hunting that 14,000 acres of private
land in the Oak Creek area would be acquired
and be made available to the Colorado Division
of Game, Fish and Parks for administration as
a big game range. The project report proposes
that this be mitigation for damages to big
game hunting which will be occasioned by the
project.

It was on this issue that we were not
able to resolve at that time any comments by
the State of Colorado. The Board postponed
any decision concerning this recommendation
pending further negotiations by all the parties
concerned.

..,'

This morning, Mr. Chairman, the Bureau of
Reclamation is prepared to briefly review the
project and the Game, Fish and Parks aspects.
I believe the Division of Game, Fish and Parks
has some statement to make in connection with
this. After that, a discussion which we anti-
cipate will take until sometime around lunch
time, then we have a tour set up of the project
area to look at the Oak Ridge area and some of'
the irrigated lands under the project. This
tour will be fairly short, an hour or an hour
and a half duration. Following that we will
reassemble here and adopt, hopefully, some
resolution which would go to Region 4 of the
Bureau of Reclamation in order that the report
can be submitted to Washington."

MR.:' KROEGER:

"Thank you, Larry.

I should have done this first but I
didn' t.
