<br />1 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Flood Documentation and Identification of Specific Hazards <br /> <br />Present Action: <br /> <br />Using available staffresources, only the major flood events are documented on a limited <br />basis, <br /> <br />Present Fundinf!: <br /> <br />Funds are secured for data collection and publishing findings on a limited, intermittent <br />basis from a formal request to federal and state disaster relief and agency accounts, <br />Traditionally, no funding for this activity is available if a formal state or federal <br />declaration is not made, <br /> <br />Pro/Josed Action: <br /> <br />Development of an annual Flood Report under contract with an engineering consulting <br />firm. The documentation and hazard identification would include: <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />· Flow estimates/event frequency <br />. Flood outline <br />· Damage assessment in dollars and extent <br />· Photos/video (when possible) <br />· Interviews of flood-impacted residents <br />· Maps (paper or GIS) of locations of human safety problems/fatalities <br />· Maps of property damage by geographic location <br />· Description of unique/special features and watershed issues <br />· Preparation of an annual flood report <br /> <br />Pro/Josed Fundinf!: <br /> <br />Establish an annual account within the CWCB's five percent (5%) or'the construction <br />fund dedicated to flood projects, Estimated annual budget: $35,000. <br /> <br />Benefits: <br /> <br />· Development of scientificlhistoric data for hydrologic and hydraulic investigations, <br /> <br />· Improved accuracy of flood damages and risk assessment. <br /> <br />· Clearer understanding of what specific problems occurred and why they occurred. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />· Generation of valuable data and analysis for the development of mitigation plan <br />recommendations, <br />
