<br /> <br />69 <br /> <br />was carried with Mr. Carpenter voting no. <br /> <br />Motion was declared duly passed. <br /> <br />Thereupon Mr. Bailey made a motion. seconded 1?Y Mr. Hinderlider. <br />that the committee heretofore designated to aot on the small dam matter <br />be enlarged to include Vena Pointer as additional member. <br /> <br />The motion was duly passed and approved and V_ Pointer designated <br />as the fifth member of the oommittee. <br /> <br />E. B. Debler. Chief Hydraulic Engineer of the Bureau of Reclamation. <br />appeared and was introduoed to the Board and made an explanation of <br />tentative allotments made to oarry on surveys and investigations during <br />the present fisoal year in the State of Colorado. Among other things he <br />stated that $600.000 had .been appropriated for this fisoal year by Congress <br />and that a carryover of funds available in the past year of $80.000 was at <br />hand making a total of $680.000, and that the Bureau had tentatively <br />allotted $55.000 to COlorado which is somewhat more than Colorado's pro- <br />rata share considering that there are seventeen states in .whioh this <br />money is to be spent. Colorado's pro rata share will be approximately <br />$40,000. He stated that the tentative allottment of this money for <br />the State of Colorado is as follows: $10.000 to Grand Mesa area. <br />$10.000 to the Colbran area. $5.000 to the Little Snake River BaSin. <br />$5,000 to the Upper Gunnison area. $5,000 to the proposed Dolores Projeot. <br />$15.000 to the Arkansas Valley and $5.000 to misoellaneous projeots. <br /> <br />Mr. Debler in response to a number of requests respeoting the <br />Dolores.Dove Creek projeot stated that. in his judgment expenditure of <br />$5.000 for the Dolores.Dove Creek investigation would put the Board and <br />those interested in that projeot in a position to determine whether or <br />not the projeot was a feasible one. Mr. Debler also disoussed proposed <br />development UIlder the Case.Wheelel' Aot. In answer ,to a further question <br />by Judge John B. O'Rourke oonoerning the Dolores.Dove Creek projeot <br />investigation. he stated the expenditure of $5,000 would be ample to <br />oonolude whether it was worth while going any further with the projeot. <br />Mr. Harry V. Pyle and others from Dolores.Dove Creek area who were present <br />urging suoh investigation oommented e.nd stated that the people in that <br />area would be satisfied with a.etiv:e work started on this investigation and <br />would oooperate in every way possible and felt that the statement of <br />Mr. Debler wa~ satisfaotory. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned until 2:00 p. m. <br /> <br />. - <br /> <br />Meeting reoonvened at 2:15 p. m. Thursday. July 25, 1940. <br /> <br />After dis6ussion oonoerning the expenditure of money for surveys <br />and investigation in the Dolores.Dove Creek area by the Bureau of <br />Reolamation as explained by E. B. Debler. Chief Hydraulio Engineer of <br />the Bureau. it was moved by Mr. Carpenter and seoonded by Judge O'Rourke <br />that the Direotor be instruoted to send a letter to the Bureau of <br />Reolamation oalling attention to the faot that a $lO,OOOoontingent t'und <br />was provided for in the allottment made to the Colorado Water Conservation <br />
