If we can impose upon your organization for an additional $8,000, then we, the Committee, will have generated half or slightly more than half of the $60,000 estimated study cost, a very favorable position when seeking Bureau. of Reclamation technical assistance. The Grand Junction Office of' the Bureau has indicated that our request for assistance would be virtually assured under these circumstances except for one technical. requisite. In order for the Bureau of Reclamation to enter into this program, they require that a state agency, such as the Colorado Water Conservation Board, issue the "Formal Request for Assistance~ 01 Therefore, our purpose in appearing before your board will be twofold. First, we would greatly appreciate your contribution toward the project objective in the amount of $8,000 and, second, but perhaps more importantly, your endorsement of the project and "Formal Request for Assistance" to the Bureau is almost essential for the study to proceed. Members. of your staff from the Grand Junction office have served our committee in an advisory capacity and they have communicated the needs and pursuits of the committee, as has the committee itself, to members of your Denver office staff. All of the aforementioned has. been included in these communications. We appreciate your considerations on our behalf and we look forward to the meeting.
