<br />-2- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />To get a sense for what should be included in a study of this type and magnitude, staff and <br />Mr. Green haye interviewed water proyiders, water u~ers, and enyironmenta1 groups from around the <br />state. The Scope of Work presented is a direct result of those interviews. A central theme obtained <br />from each interview was that all of the interested wafer groups should playa role in the deye10pment <br />ofthe study's final reconnnendations including equal representation from the east slope and the west <br />slope. <br /> <br />If approyed by the Board, the Scope of Work (with any revisions suggested by the Board) <br />will be incorporated into a Request for Proposals (RFP) to be distributed in early August. <br />Consultant proposals would be scheduled for receipt iaround November 1. <br /> <br />Staffwill reyiew the proposals in Noyember'and request the Board's approyal for funding of <br />the study to be included in the 2003 Construction F,und projects bill. The Board will participate in <br />the consultant selection process in JanuarylFebruary 2003 with study connnencement scheduled for <br />mid-2003 following 1egis1atiye authorization and contract execution. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the Board approye !the attached Scope of Work for the Statewide <br />Water Supply Inyestigation and authorize the staffto distribute a Request for Proposals as soon as . <br />possible. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Flood Protection.
