The Nonpoint Source Workshop will be held from Sept. 8-12 and the Annual CWA <br />Conference will be Sept. 12-13. <br /> <br />The themes ofthis years' meeting are: <br />. Building and Sustaining Watershed Groups . <br />. Implementing the Watershed Approach <br />. Technical Aspects and Tools <br /> <br />The Assembly will also discuss the new Colorado Watershed Protection Fund. This Fund will be added <br />to the Colorado Tax Refund Checkoff program and will be available to every Colorado taxpayer in <br />2003. If you need more <br />information call Marc Alston at 303-312-6356. <br /> <br />Water Quality Forum Retreat: Bahntan Hatami attended the Water Quality Forum (WQF) retreat that <br />was held in Glenwood Springs on June 26-27. Apptoximately40 participants, representing various <br />interests including agriculture, industry, environme~tal community, regional water quality planning <br />agencies, municipal wastewater, water suppliers an~ water districts, storm water dischargers, and state <br />and federal agencies took part in this retreat. Below is a brief summary of some of the issues discussed <br />by the entities that attended: <br /> <br />Water Quality Control Division: <br /> <br />. To implement HB 02-1344 the Division will study the functions of constructed water <br />conveyance and storage facilities. They areiestablishing an advisory group to look into policy <br />ramifications of the development and implementation of various criteria and are examining <br />whether the state's standards setting and classification process may need to be modified to <br />address the impacts on water quality from constructed water conveyance and storage facilities.. <br />This group will work with technical experts to address the need for development of a set of <br /> <br /> <br />. 10 <br />
