~VJ-r

MR. D. MILLER.:

MR. STAPLETON:

"I think this is a wonderful thing for the
South platte and the interest taken by the
members of the Steering Committee indicates
that they will follow it through actively. I
think we should point out that the Vice-Chairman
himself attended this meeting and has given time
to it and I want to say that Mrs. Keating also
had the equipment which we have here today and
took down a very difficult set of comments in
an excellent manner and I personally feel that
they are very important to the final outcome
of the Steering Committee because through these
minutes of the Steering Committee we have the
positions of the various people involved and
an accurate record of what has taken place.

I

I think I would like to say only that the
real question here - I might say there are two
things - first of all, those people who have
indicated a primary interest in this project
are the Henrylynn Irrigation District, the
Bijou Irrigation District, the Riverside Irri-
gation District and the Farmers Reservoir and
Irrigation Company. The problem at the moment
is whether water can be exchanged up to the
headgates of those ditches from the Narrows.
The statement was made at the Steering Com-
mittee, and probably more or less uncontra-
dicted, that without storage at Two Forks the
exchange would be very doubtful, if at all
possible. So this, I think, represents a
challenge to us all.

There was a meeting at which Regional
Director Spencer spoke at Fort Morgan a week
ago Monday, and explained the total picture
very well. There was a capacity crowd there
at the Country Club at Fort Morgan which indi-
cates a very high local interest in the matter.

I

I'm sure the Vice-Chairman has additional
comments that would be worthwhile on this sub-
ject."

"I don't know whether I do. I was a little
disturbed at the meeting. I didn't think things
were going to move along as rapidly as I had
