MR. D. MILLER:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. CUYKENDALL:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. CUYKENDALL:

We have certain procedures we mus,t go through
to arrive at that point. The only thing here
is, is to determine whether we are going to
present this to the Congress and if so, what
would be necessary to certify the land. This
is in the process of plan formulation and at this I
stage the details are so nebulous that all we
are trying to do is to determine what is avail-
able and what might have to be done to do the
whole job. We're not making definite steps at
this point and that's the purpose of the steer-
ing Committee to bring forward this information
and we will work very closely with them and I
can assure you that we won't be doing any more
work than is necessary to accomplish the objec-
tive of the investigation."

"Thanks, Jim.1I

"Thank you, Mr. Knights. Mr. Cuykendall,
would you like to say something?"

"I'd like to put my nickel's worth in."

ttFine.1I

"Thank you, Mr. Chairman. When this first
was proposed - to make a study of the Platte
River Basin - I thought at long last that we
were going to get a genuine study of all the
possibilities in the Platte River Basin. Now,
from where I sit at the present moment, it seems
to me that the matter of any recharge of ground
water in the Bijou Basin is completely ignored.
I see on your report that you are speaking about
a reservoir at Wiggins. A reservoir at Wiggins,
for recharge of the ground water in the Bijou
Creek Basin, would be just completely worthless.
From Wiggins north to the river doesn't need any
help in the matter of ground water recharge but
from Wiggins south they do need he'lp. Those
people are pumping that water out. They may not
agree with me on that statement but all we need
to do is look at their static ground water level
in their wells as it goes down from year to year.

I
