I little here and there that if they could put it in that rese~voir they would prbbably have pretty good utilization. Yet in t~ying to compute the benefits we are having trouble with the s.c.s. who ~equire a water right or some security that they are going to get the water and yet in the past they have been supplying water from one source or another and this is a good place to put it so we hope we get it through. On the Cheyenne Creek Watershed nea~ Holly, Colorado, preliminary studies have been com- pleted and detailed planning studies have been approved. Consideration is being given to the construction of a flood retention dam to protect the Santa Fe Railroad and Highway No. 50 bridges from floods and from sedimentation deposition. Improvements to Holly Drain and Frontier Ditch are being considered. Also on that there is some consideration as to a fish pool. Of course that goes back to water rights again and possi- bly they can buy water from one of the other irrigations it is felt, but that is left en- tirely up to the local people to determine whether they can supply the water. That is left in their hands now. In fact, the S.C.S. has backed away from it and we have too because of the water rights on that. It is a sticky proposition. Illinois River in North park was investi- gated to determine if an irrigation storage reservoir was feasible. Water supply studies were made and preliminary cost estimates were prepared and submitted to the sponsors for their consideration last year. No further action has been taken on that. The preliminary investigations have been initi- ated to deter imine if land treatment and flood prevention structures for the protection of the valuable farm lands can be justified. The studies should be completed in January of next year. There again we have made some quickies on it and it looks like we can possibly get a proj- ect there but it's a borderline case.
