I

MR. PETERSON:

I

\.-

.'

(.,
~9-

"With reference to Bostwid::_ Proj ect, I would
like to mention that it is a relatively small
project. It doesn't have much--the tax
benefits are from a very small area. I am
rather sure that we are not going to be able
to get preference for all of these projects.
Some have to come first and some second.

"There is one other area which seems to
be of more interest to the local people than
Bostwick and that is the Dallas Project--or
the Ridgeway Project. I have talked with
Mr. Paddock, District Engineer, and it seems
that there is a possibility that a reservoir
could be constructed on Cow Creek and Dallas
Creek which would do-a lot of good for the
area and would have the same effect On the
flood situation on the Uncompahgre River as
the original Dallas Project. There is some
controversy over the original studies that
were made on the Ridgeway Project because
adoption of these would flood the town of
Ridgeway and surrounding farming areas.

"The Bureau did some investigation on
Cow Creek and Dallas Creek sites. They are
higher up on the stream. I think Cow Creek
would store 25,000 acre-feet of water and
Dallas, probably 10,000 to 15,000 acre-feet
of water. By that storage, you could very
well relieve the flood situation on the
Uncompahgre River and bring water to the
land where water is needed.

"1 would like to see that project investi-
gated further. I think it is of more benefit
to the area than even the small Bostwick Park.
That is the thinking in the local area. I
think there should be more study on Cow Creek
and Dallas Creek reservoir sites."
