Walcher <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />Rod Kuharich <br />CWCB Director <br /> <br />DATE: <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Deputy Director <br /> <br />Introduction <br />On January 22, 2002 the Board held a Workshop on Agricultural Water, with a goal of <br />considering and perhaps developing a policy on agricultural water use and transfers. The Board <br />heard over four hours of presentations and public comment. This agenda item is to allow the <br />Board to begin deliberations on the possible dimensions of an agricultural water policy, There <br />are no scheduled speakers or presentations, as the Board expressed a desire to have time to <br />"brainstorm' on the issues presented during the January Workshop, This memo provides follow- <br />up information to address questions that arose at the Workshop. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Staff has prepared the following items, attached hereto, that respond to questions raised by the <br />Board or provide additional information to be considered during this follow-up meeting. <br />· Draft Summary of Proceedings, January 22,2002 Workshop. Board members are <br />encouraged to review the summary and provide corrections or editorial suggestions to staff, <br />Ultimately, after Board approval, the SU1lUllary would be made available to participants and <br />the public on request. <br />· Follow-up Information Sheet (with attachments) relating to: <br />· Future Agricultural Commission Meetings <br />· Potential Future Speakers/Presentations <br />· County Land Use Policies and HB I 041 Regulations <br />· Map: Thornton Owned Farmland <br />· Legal Jurisdiction/Authority/Scope of Potential CWCB Policies <br />· SB02-148, HilImanlKester Agricultural Water Rights <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />There are no staff recommendations. The Board should use the available time to discuss and <br />begin to shape the possible parameters of an Agricultural Water Policy. The Board should also <br />give the staff guidance on how it wants to continue the policy development process over the next <br />several months, <br /> <br />Flood Protection.
