"Any other questions on the South Platte
Steering Committee?"

"I might add something, Mr. Chairman. As
I understand it, the Bureau of Reclamation
has planned to request appropriations in the
next year or so if this matter can be resolved
on site selection. Mr. Greer or Mr. Knights,
do you have something on that?"

"Yes, Larry. Ne don't have an amount
scheduled in our program at this time for the
actual starting of construction but as quickly
as we do get the site selection made and can
proceed with advance planning on the site
selected, then we will, of course, get suf-
ficient funds in there. Now it makes quite
a lot of difference in the amount of advance
planning that needs to be done as to which of
the two sites under investigation are selected
for final construction because we have a great
deal of data on the Narrows site which was
reported on before and which is authorized;
and we have very little information, compara-
tively, on the Neld County site.

So it makes it very difficult to schedule
funds until we know which site we need the
funds for. '"

"Any further discussion?"

"I wonder if we could have an indication
as to when the Steering Committee might meet?"

"I think Mr. Gildersleeve answered it to
the best of his ability, that it certainly
won't be this year but maybe early spring
and that's about the best infoDnation he can
give us and he is going to communicate that to
all the members of the Steering Committee to
hold us together in a unit."

"Ne do have an analysis of the site selec-
tion itself which has already been prepared
by the Bureau of Reclamation sometime ago.
