Bureau of Mines for their comments and prior
to the hearings next year we will have formu-
lated the state policy which we hope to have
memorialized by the State Legislature before
we present our testimony. I think unquestion-
ably something is going to come out of the
Congress on this wilderness problem - some
type of bill will be passed."

"Mr. Chairman, I'd also like to ask if
there is any plan for any meeting such as
has often been held of the Representatives and
Senators, between now and the time Congress
opens, on the wilderness and other matters.
Is there anything in the wind?"

"I know of nothing."

"We hope to set up such a conference.
After I meet with Congressman Aspinall to
get his views on what he thinks can be done
in his committee, then we hope to get together
with the entire Congressional delegation either
in a group or individually prior to the time
that Congress convenes."

"Any further questions on the ~'1ilderness
Bill?"

"On November lst a preliminary meeting
was held with the various people who will be
involved in the operation of the Green Mountain
Powerplant. This was strictly to discuss some
of the basic problems involved. The problem
is quite complex as it involves not only the
diurnal fluctuation which give the people
downstream from the Green Mountain powerplant
so much trouble but also involves some sea-
sonal fluctuations which we are concerned with
from the state-level as to the effect it may
have on future development downstream from the
Colorado River - future projects which we may
have.
