Thus the total <br />amount of funds advanced to the 'Bureau of <br />Reclamation'amounts to $395,203. <br /> <br />In most cases the funds were contributed <br />to the Bureau at times when sufficient <br />Government funds were not availabie to I <br />carry on the investigation program as <br />rapidly as desired by the state' to prepare <br />detailed project reports as a basis for <br />authorization. Also in the'case of the <br />initial phase of the large Central Utah <br />project the 'p~eparation of the detailed <br />report dated February 1951 (called a supple- <br />mental report to the Colorado Storage <br />project) was greatly facilitated by the <br />investigation work previously carried on <br />with the use of state funds in the amount of <br />$126,049, for the Bonneville Basin, $14,106 <br />for the Upper Colorado River, $64,945 for <br />the Central Utah project, $3,675 for the <br />Jensen Unit and $3,565 for the Vernal Unit <br />of the Central Utah project. The balance <br />of the state funds were spent on some 20 <br />potential projects of which the more important <br />ones as referred to in paragraph 3 were <br />authorized for construction. <br /> <br />During the present year approximately <br />$3,470 of state funds is being expended on <br />the initial phase of the Central Utah <br />project. <br /> <br />In addition to the state advancing <br />funds to the Bureau of Reclamation the <br />state is contributing annually to the <br />Geological Survey, under cooperative <br />arrangement, sufficient funds to carry <br />on the stream gaging program within the <br />state, a part of which program covers <br />stations recommended by the Bureau of <br />Reclamation as desirable or necessary in <br />the investigation of reclamation projects. <br /> <br />/s/ E"., O.
