, 551

I

budget in the Durango office is dryas
far as any money being available at this
time, at least until July, for any further
investigation of this project. Our Board
at a special meeting Saturday, was in
agreement that we would ask of this Board--
in their recommendation to the Reclamation--
that they give a fair share of their total
apportionment of funds to the San Juan Basin
office.

"As a Southwestern Water Conservation
District Board, member, I would like to see
money expended in every direction but, at
the present time, we are inclined to think
that further study ought to be made on the
Animas-LaPlata.

"In your recommendation to the
Reclamation pedple, I urge that you suggest
a substantial amount of the funds allocated
to the Salt Lake office be reserved for
the San Juan Basin and the Animas-LaPlata
Project."

MR. BAILEY: "I agree with that."

MR. KELLY: "As I understand my motion, it did not
include any substitution for another project."

MR. BAILEY: "A're there any other questions on the motion
made by Mr. Kelly?"

MR. McDANIEL: "As official spokesman, I do not know if
substitution should be recommended. I feel
the Animas-LaPlata can stand on its own feet.
I say that maybe substitution should not be
made."

MR. WHITI'EN : "If I understand the motion correctly, it did
I not include substitution."
MR. BAILEY: "All in favor of the motion, signify so by
saying aye."
The motion made by Mr. Kelly was carried unanimously.
