337

I

Mr. Breitenstein: "The way that is written up, there
is an authorization for Cross Mountain, which is
unconditional."

Mr. Saunders: "I would be surprised if the Interior
Department would not buy the proposition that this Board
approve Cross Mountain before final authorization oCours.
I think the Bureau usually intends to protect local
interests."

Mr. Dunbar: "I understand that the three million acre-
feet would not be approved unless we include Cross Mountain."

Mr. Breitenstein: "If we are going to insist on a lot of
additional storage in Colorado, we are not going to get it.
Cross Mountain, according to their report, is the second
most desirable project in the Upper Basin. Whether they
are wrong or right, I am not saying; that is their attitude."

Mr. Beaty: "Is Mr. Pughe going to report back to us this
afternoon?"

Mr. Dutcher: "His meeting starts at two this afternoon. He
has no idea at what time they are going to finish the meet-
ing. In the event they are through with the meeting before
the afternoon is gone he will report to the Board. Until
that time he has to stand more or less firm on the action he
has taken in the past."

Mr. Breitenstein: "This does not eliminat~ Echo Park."

Mr. Dutcher: "He does not want the Board tb take action
on Cross Mountain."

Mr. Dille: "I am wondering if it is worth recessing until
tomorrow morning at this time?"

I

Mr. Bailey: "I have a meeting at Steamboat Springs tomorrow
at one o'clock, This is a pretty serious thing that has
been put up to us. I think we should meet again shortly."

Mr. Moses "I think we should get the comments of Denver
or anybody who wants to say anything about this so that
we may consider their thoughts also."
