<br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />of the <br />SAN LUIS VALLEY WATER CONSERYANCYDlSTRICT <br /> <br />REel" ALS: <br /> <br />A. A group comprised of San Luis Valley residents, water users, inlt:n:st groups, <br />and various govcmmental cntitics have proposed a maintenance and restoration project for <br />the Rio Grande channel. This projcct commonly is referred to as the Rio Grande Ht:adwater <br />Restoration Project. <br /> <br />B. Potential goals ofthc Rio Grande Headwater Restoration Project include: <br /> <br /> . <br />-'" <br /> . <br /> . <br /> . <br />. . <br /> . <br /> <br />Removal of debris built up in the channel of the Rio Grilllde; <br /> <br />Stabilization of critical stl'eumbank erosion areas; <br /> <br />Protection of irrigation structures and canals; <br /> <br />Improvement of channel convcyancc capacity; <br /> <br />Floodwater protection; and <br /> <br />Aquatic and wildlife habitat improvement. <br /> <br />WHEREFORE, be it resolved that: (1) the San Luis Valley Water Conservancy <br />District supports these goals; (2) the San Luis Valley Water Conservancy District believes <br />that actions taken and funds expended by the Rio Grande Headwater Restoration Project <br />should be guided by an Advisory R oard composed of San Luis Valley citizens representing <br />a broad base of Rio Grande water users and other concerned parties; and (3) the San Luis <br />Valley Water Conscrvancy District has indicated its interest in playing an integral role in <br />the Rio Grande Headwater Restoration Project. <br /> <br />For these rcasons, the San Luis Valley Water Conservancy District ,vill explore the <br />potcntial methods by which it can best be involyed in and assist the Rio Grande Headwater <br />Restoration Project. <br />. +" <br />ADOPTED this (} O!) day of n {/lA~m I:Luc.- . 1998. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />C: <br /> <br />{Wl 'cf~L <br />
