Water users relying
on water in storage faired well, while those without storage, especially in the South Platte and
Rio Grande basins, experienced drought-like conditions.

The last year the state experienced such water conditions was in 1977.

Funds are requested to survey water users (municipalities, county water storage and
supply groups like homeowners associations, water companies, water districts, water
conservation and conservancy districts, and irrigation, ditch and reservoir companies) to collect
information in several categories:

Funding Sources: CF
Type of Borrower: State Agency
Median Household Income: NA

cweB Grant: $350,000

Interest rate: NA
Term: NA

7. Opinions/concerns about drought preparedness and water supply adequacy

A contractor would to conduct the survey in the summer of 2001. A status report would
be given in December 2001 and the report would be completed by July 2002.

The resulting report will contain GIS information, a data base, reported findings, an
expert analysis of the information, and a list of options/recommendations that addresses future
needs.

Funds are also included to allow the CWCB to hire a temporary FTE. The indi vidual
would help prepare the Request for Proposals (RFP) so it can be issued by July 2001, oversee the
study process and ensure a targeted goal of 100 percent response to the survey is obtained
($150,000 of the $350,000 project costs).

Flood Protection.
