<br />150 <br /> <br />Mr. P.inderlider said he wanted to know if his administrative respon- <br />sibilities as State Engineer ceased when the Administration became organized. He <br />said he would like to know where water au tho ri ty is now ves/ted, and he claimed <br />that his office should not bear the expense of phone calls and other communica- <br />tions relating to water released from John Martin dam. <br /> <br />The Director reported on items coyered by 3(c), (d), imd (e); 5, 6, 9, <br />14, 15, 16 and 17 of the Agenda for the meeting as follows: <br /> <br />Project Investigations, Fiscal 1950, Colorado. The Director reported <br />that there would be available for investigations in the States of the Upper COlO- <br />rado River Basin for fiscal 1950 an additiqnal $500,000. This. sum is over and <br />apove the $500,000 appropriated by'the Congress from the Colorado River Deyelop- <br />ment Fund for the present fiscal year and also the allocation made by the Bureau <br />of Reclamation from monies appropriated by ,Congress for general inyestigations in <br />the seventeen Western States. It was estimated that there would probably' be . <br />approximately $1,500,000 available to the Bureau of Reclama~ion to carry.on these <br />inyestigations during the present fiscal year. Precise allocation of funds to the <br />various Regional Directors and for work in the yarious States is pending -and would <br />be finally determined by t.'1e Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation. <br /> <br />Appropriations for Water Development Projects in Colorado, Fiscal 1950. <br />The Director estimated that the aggregate appropriations for project construction <br />in Colorado for fiscal 1950 would be about $25,000,000. <br /> <br />Activities of the Policy and Review Committee, First Stage of Proposed <br />Gunnison-Arkansas Project. The Director made a brief report of the activities of' <br />the Policy and Review Committee, h~retofore created by the Board, to review and re- <br />port upon the First Stage of the Proposed Gunnison-Arkansas Project. He stated that <br />meetings of the Committee were being held about eyery two months and.that the en- <br />gineering staff of the Board, as well as that of the Bureau of Reclamation, we.re <br />currently preparing and reviewing pertinent data; and he explained that as soon as <br />conclusions were reaphed by the Committee, a report would be made to the Board.. <br /> <br />Colorado River Storage Project. The Director called attention to a <br />series of fiye meetings which would be held October 3 to October. 10, 1949 at Craig, <br />Grand Junction, Durango, Pueblo, and Denver, to explain the report of the Burea1,l <br />of Reclamation entitled "Interim Report, Colorado River Storage Frojectand Parti- <br />cipating Projects", issued by Region 4, Bureau of Reclamation. He stated that <br />these meetings would be held for the purpose of explaining the above-mentioned re- <br />port and ascertaining the views of local, interests with respect to the plan of de- <br />veloPITlent submitted by such report. He urged the members of the Board to parti- <br />cipat.e in one or more' of these meetings as it would be necessary. for' the Board to <br />agree upon official comments of the State of Colorado with respect to the repOl;'t.; <br />and that the preparation of such comments WOUld, no doubt, receive the attention <br />of the Board at its next meeti~g. J.R.Riter, who was present, emphasized the <br />necessity of the Colorado Water Conservation Board preparing and submitting to <br />Region 4 of the Bureau of Reclamation.the official comments of the State at as <br />early a date as possible. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />
