Mr. P.inderlider said he wanted to know if his administrative respon-
sibilities as State Engineer ceased when the Administration became organized. He
said he would like to know where water au tho ri ty is now ves/ted, and he claimed
that his office should not bear the expense of phone calls and other communica-
tions relating to water released from John Martin dam.

The Director reported on items coyered by 3(c), (d), imd (e); 5, 6, 9,
14, 15, 16 and 17 of the Agenda for the meeting as follows:

Project Investigations, Fiscal 1950, Colorado. The Director reported
that there would be available for investigations in the States of the Upper COlO-
rado River Basin for fiscal 1950 an additiqnal $500,000. This. sum is over and
apove the $500,000 appropriated by'the Congress from the Colorado River Deyelop-
ment Fund for the present fiscal year and also the allocation made by the Bureau
of Reclamation from monies appropriated by ,Congress for general inyestigations in
the seventeen Western States. It was estimated that there would probably' be .
approximately $1,500,000 available to the Bureau of Reclama~ion to carry.on these
inyestigations during the present fiscal year. Precise allocation of funds to the
various Regional Directors and for work in the yarious States is pending -and would
be finally determined by t.'1e Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation.

Appropriations for Water Development Projects in Colorado, Fiscal 1950.
The Director estimated that the aggregate appropriations for project construction
in Colorado for fiscal 1950 would be about $25,000,000.

Activities of the Policy and Review Committee, First Stage of Proposed
Gunnison-Arkansas Project. The Director made a brief report of the activities of'
the Policy and Review Committee, h~retofore created by the Board, to review and re-
port upon the First Stage of the Proposed Gunnison-Arkansas Project. He stated that
meetings of the Committee were being held about eyery two months and.that the en-
gineering staff of the Board, as well as that of the Bureau of Reclamation, we.re
currently preparing and reviewing pertinent data; and he explained that as soon as
conclusions were reaphed by the Committee, a report would be made to the Board..

Colorado River Storage Project. The Director called attention to a
series of fiye meetings which would be held October 3 to October. 10, 1949 at Craig,
Grand Junction, Durango, Pueblo, and Denver, to explain the report of the Burea1,l
of Reclamation entitled "Interim Report, Colorado River Storage Frojectand Parti-
cipating Projects", issued by Region 4, Bureau of Reclamation. He stated that
these meetings would be held for the purpose of explaining the above-mentioned re-
port and ascertaining the views of local, interests with respect to the plan of de-
veloPITlent submitted by such report. He urged the members of the Board to parti-
cipat.e in one or more' of these meetings as it would be necessary. for' the Board to
agree upon official comments of the State of Colorado with respect to the repOl;'t.;
and that the preparation of such comments WOUld, no doubt, receive the attention
of the Board at its next meeti~g. J.R.Riter, who was present, emphasized the
necessity of the Colorado Water Conservation Board preparing and submitting to
Region 4 of the Bureau of Reclamation.the official comments of the State at as
early a date as possible.
