The ranch currently operates 12 wells that are augmented under the
Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte (GASP). GASP operates on a year-to-year basis
with no guarantee of continued coverage. The current drought conditions have brought to the
foreground the difficulty of providing augmentation for well users. The Stromberger's project will
provide its own augmentation water to protect itself against possible curtailment by GASP.
Construction activities include drilling 6 wells to pump water to a series of constructed recharge
ponds have been completed. The Shomberger's will be requesting additional funds to cover cost
overruns the occurred during construction at the upcoming May, 2005 Board Meeting. The
additional funds needed is 59,000. Project substantial completion is scheduled for August of2005.

~ Grano Me"a Re"eTVOir (;ompany Renahilitation ofRe"eTVO;rNo 1 "no No 9

Authorization: Construction Fund
Water Source: Gunnison
Terms of Loan: $200,000@ 2.4% for 20-years

County: Mesa
Project Yield: 1,000 Acre-Feet
Project Type: Reservoir Rehabilitation

The Grand Mesa Reservoir Company operates 6 reservoirs on the Grand Mesa to supply .
water to 16 shareholders for the irrigation of 500 acres. These wells produce a summertime depletion of approximately 1,510
acre-feet and a wintertime depletion of 960 acre-feet. This project involves the purchase of a new
farm with augmentation improvements in-place and the construction of a new recharge well, 2100-
ft. of 12-inch PVC pipe and 4,500-ft. of 2 I-inch PVC Pipe, and various recharge ponds on their
existing farm, to cover their depletions.
