NA WCs report on that <br />projcct (Solak.et at 2002) provides a summary of these earlier seeding programs. Appendix 8 <br />provides a copy of this summary. This information was useful in th~ identification of possible <br />control sites and non-seeded periods in the target. Figure 5.1 is a reproduction ofa map prepared <br />by the Colorado Water Conservation Board that provides the locations of the target areas for all <br />of the cloud seeding projects conducted last winter in Colorado. Data from Appendix B and that <br />contained in Fig. 5.1. may he used to determine those areas in Colorado that might serve as <br />uncontaminated control areas. <br /> <br />There is one other consideration in the selection of control sites: potential dov.nwind <br />effects of other cloud seeding projects beyond the intended target area... Some earlier weather <br />modification research programs have indicated that the precipitation can Ix modified in areas <br />dO\\TI\\rind of the intended target areas.
