Seeding ended in the afternoon, after the snow had stopped. <br />Strong easterly flow developed and continued through the night of March 18-19. Heavy snow <br />fell on the east side of the Continental Divide, but snow was light at best over Gunnison County, <br />which was in a downslope wind flow pattern. Nevertheless, a limited amount of seeding was <br />conducted overnight (#10), and ended on the morning of March 19. <br /> <br />A new storm system moved across the Great Basin and Arizona on March 20, and by <br />evening it had triggered widespread snow showers across Utah and Arizona. This system <br />crossed Colorado overnight, bringing snow showers to the area. Cloud seeding was conducted <br />ovemight (# 11), and a few inches of snow fell on the target area. <br /> <br />A weak system moving through Colorado on March 24, combined with daytime surface <br />heating, sparked widespread snow showers during the afternoon hours. Snowfall amounts were <br />variable, with several inches falling in much of the target area. Seeding was conducted from <br />1200 to 1930 (#12). Snow showers ended after sunset. <br /> <br />A fairly strong frontal system approached Colorado on March 26, with snow moving into <br />the target area during the evening hours. Ahead of the front, the air mass was quite dry with <br />strong SW winds. Seeding was conducted using nearly all generator sites overnight (#13), <br />because of a shift in wind direction from SW to NW with the frontal passage. SNOTEL data <br />indicate that quite a bit of snow fell on the night of the 26th to 27th, with higher portions of the <br />target area receiving one-half to one inch of water equivalent. Snow ended early the next <br />morning and seeding generators were turned off by 0800. <br /> <br />April <br /> <br />A storm system moved from Utah into Colorado on the night of April 5-6, bringing <br />numerous snow showers to the target area. Seeding began around 2000 (#14) and continued <br />overnight, with signficant snowfall in most of the target. Operators reported 4" of snow at <br />Crested Butte and reports of 6-12" of snow were received from the higher eastern portions of the <br /> <br />42 <br />
