Seeding was conducted during the night (#4), and ended on
the morning of the 17th. More snow fell across the target area the night of the 17th to 18th, and
seeding was conducted from the evening of 17th until late morning on the 18th (#5). Several
inches of snow accumulated in some areas, particularly west of the city of Gunnison.

A cold trough of low pressure dropped down from the NW across Colorado on February
22, triggering snow showers across the target area. Seeding was conducted during the afternoon
and evening hours (#6), as daytime heating helped to de-stabilized the atmosphere and increase
snow shower activity. Crested Butte received 5" of snow.

A series of productive stonns that occurred from February 24-28 were not seeded due to
the issuance of an avalanche warning for the area. This seeding suspension was a requirement
of the cloud seeding pennit issued by the State.

March

A nearly stationary cold front made gradual progress southward into NW Colorado on
March 4. By evening, light snow had begun in the NW comer of the target area. Seeding
generators were turned on in the evening and ran throughout the night (#7). Snow accumulations
of 3-6" were reported around much of the area, with Monarch Pass reporting 20" of snow in 24
hours. Seeding ended by mid-morning on March 5 as skies began to clear.

An upper-level system moved into the Four Comers region on March 16, with snow
approaching Colorado. Seeding was conducted on the night of the 16th to 17'h (#8), but snow
was slow to move into the Gunnison area and only light amounts fell, mostly during the morning
hours of March 17. Snow tapered off in the afternoon and seeding ended. However, snow fell
again overnight on the night of the 17th to 18th, as the stonn center slowly moved eastward along
the southern border of Colorado. Seeding was conducted again overnight (#9) Snow
accumulations of 5-6" were reported in parts of the target area. Easterly flow had developed
around the north side of the low center by morning, with the main focus of the precipitation to

41
