)

issued their first warning of the season due to this storm. The warning included the
target area and this resulted in the termination of seeding the morning of the 9th.

The second seeding episode occurred from the late night of the 10th through the
evening of the II tho The CAFC had issued several avalanche warnings beginning on the
9th of the month and running continuously until the morning of the 10th when the last
one was canceled. Therefore, as a storm system began to move into the state, seeding
commenced a couple of hours before midnight and continued into the afternoon of the
11th.

After several days of dry weather, a storm moved into Colorado from the west

on the 19th. Again, as was the case for much of February, the storm was not a strong

one. However the third seeding event occurred from late morning until near midnight

on this day.

The final seeding episode of the month occurred as yet another weak system
moved across northern Colorado from late on the 23rd through the afternoon of the 24th.
Very little precipitation fell during this seeded period.

Dry weather was the rule for the next two days andthen a weak and fairly warm
system moved across northern Colorado on the 27th. No seeding was conducted due to
mild temperatures (NA we meteorologists determined that It was unlikely that AgI
released in this storm would reach activation temperatures of ~5 oc or colder to have an
impact on the formation of ice crystals). Precipitation was light with this storm.

4.3.2 March 1994

I
I I

Except for a warm precipitation episode caused by a weak system brushing the
target area, the first half of March was uneventful in the Willow Creek area. This first
system of the month was not accompanied by cold enough temperatures for effective

4-4
